THOUSAND OAKS, CA – Snow in Tahoe, strange expo venues away from the course and a mountaintop finish up Mt. Baldy brought a different flavored Amgen Tour of California to the west coast this year. One thing was the same as the biggest news of the week came away from the course and off-the-bike instead of from the race course. I’m talking about the 60 Minutes upstaging the racing with an interview featuring Tyler Hamilton’s scathing comments about Lance Armstrong and doping....

LOS ANGELES – At the finish line of the Tour of California I was about to catch up with Bont’s very own CEO Steven Nemeth. At first glance he gave the impression of a completely composed and polished Australian gentleman. Then I looked at his shoes and saw all the stuff mom warned me about.

Armstrong Tweets From Tour De France “Got some good “road rash” on the hip and elbow. Bike mangled, cleat on the shoe completely cracked in two. Hope it’s dry tomorrow”
Im guessing Lance will be ok and you can bet a fresh pair of shoes and cleats were ready to go.
Makes you wonder if they have a pair already broke in or if they anticipate needing to switch out foot...

There was a time when I knew every nut and bolt on my bike. As I got older and busier I spent less time concerned about every detail of my ride and more interested in finding time to ride. Thats why over the last two weeks I spent some frustrated moments trying to clip into my Speedplays and wondering what the hell I did wrong installing some new clips. I just couldn’t get clipped in with any...
