As athletes continue to explore exciting new avenues of competition that offer extreme endurance challenges performance footwear brand Avia is responding to the popularity of these new events by increasing its running shoe line.
With the rigors of off-road Xterra-style racing in mind, the Avi-Stolz and Avi-Bolt II were co-designed and tested in competition by three-time Xterra World Champion Conrad Stoltz.
Avia has sold running shoes and triathlon shoes for years, but a specific shoe for the demands of off-road triathlons is something seldom seen even in today’s market. The Avi-Stolz shoe should be available in April at a price around $110.
Avia is also developing a triathlon-specific cycling shoe that would be a new horizon for the shoemaker. Bicycle shoes would be something entirely new. The design will offer features for quick transitions, breathable mesh and a soft interior suitable for exercising with wet feet.
With luck we might see Avia cycling shoes in bike shops and triathlon zombie stores by the 2010 racing season.
